I started at Shady Brook Farm in Sept 2013 with hayrides and as a tractor driver. In Dec, I sold Christmas trees & worked the Light Show ticket booth, and helped setting up & taking down props. In summer 2018, I bar tended in The Stone’s Throw pub (STP), & by Sept 2018 took over ordering & handling alcohol for special events and the pub. Since then, I help manage the STP & maintain my role with special events.
Over the past 1 & 1/2 years, I’ve been part of a team that’s helped to grow events to include the STP. I’m also helping create experiences in the STP that introduce guests to varieties of new & exciting beers & spirits & our frequently rotating tap list.
We’re building new ways to make the pub more fun & a better experience than just another spot to get food & drinks. New for 2020 are winter & summer cornhole leagues. We provide a unique experience where guests can shop for groceries, gardening items, & find a place to hang for an evening out.
I absolutely love the fall and winter seasons at Shady Brook. We have so many things going on, and we’re able to create such a cool experience for everyone.
I’m def a beer & whiskey guy, with IPA’s being my go. The STP has no shortage of them from Rusty Rail, Evil Genius, The Vault, Victory + a lot more. If I need something a bit stronger, my current favorites are Port Finished Bourbon from Mermaid Spirits & recently added 4 year old whiskey from Manatawny Still Works.
I love The Stone’s Throw and feel very lucky to have an important role within it. We have a great core of guests coming through that make it feel like we’re all just hanging out with close friends at work. And outside of our guests, everyone I work with at the farm has become like a second family to me. They’re the people I know I can count on to help me with anything, whether professionally or personally.
I served four years in the Marine Corps from 2009 to 2013, and was lucky enough to spend a few years living out in Southern CA. In my spare time I enjoy playing the guitar.
