FAQs
How much mulch do I need?
Measure the length and width of your landscape bed to determine the square footage. For most projects, a 2–3-inch layer is ideal. One cubic yard covers about 162 sq. ft. at 2 inches deep or 108 sq. ft. at 3 inches deep. Contact us at 215-968-1670 for assistance estimating your order.
Do you deliver?
Yes, bulk products can be delivered locally. Get FREE delivery (within local delivery zones) when ordering 5 yds or more.
Where will it be dropped?
Bulk deliveries are typically dropped in the driveway, but you can add specific delivery instructions in the notes section at checkout.
When is the best time to mulch?
The best time to apply mulch is in the spring after the soil has warmed, typically from late March through May. Adding a fresh 2–3-inch layer helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and give your landscape a clean, finished look. You can also refresh mulch in the fall to help insulate plant roots through the winter.
How often should I replace mulch?
Most landscapes benefit from a fresh layer of mulch once a year. Over time, mulch naturally breaks down, fades in color, and settles. Rather than removing all of the old mulch, it's usually best to add enough fresh mulch to maintain a total depth of 2–3 inches.
What's the difference between dyed and natural mulch?
Dyed mulch is enhanced with color to provide a rich, consistent appearance that lasts longer throughout the season. Black mulch creates bold contrast, while brown mulch offers a classic, natural look. Natural mulch contains no added colorants and gradually decomposes, adding organic matter and nutrients back into the soil. Both provide excellent weed suppression, moisture retention, and protection for your plants—the choice comes down to the look you prefer.
